Systasis Origins

Systasis (Greek: σύστασις, noun, feminine, singular) stands for:

1. composition; the essential material or substance an entity is made of, 2. gathering; people getting together for a common purpose, 3. introduction; the act of presenting something or somebody to someone for the first time, 4 recommendation; the act of suggesting something, especially for its exceptional qualities.

 
 

Systasis Olive Oil Tasting Experience

Systasis is an interactive workshop on the culture of olive oil tasting, facilitated by certified olive oil sommelier. Its main aspiration is to highlight and share the exceptional attributes of Greek extra virgin olive oil, as well as educate the participants on the unique qualities that differentiate a premium olive oil product. Starting from Ermioni, Greece and traveling to selected locations of the Argosaronic Gulf area upon request, the workshop offers an insightful tour of the olive oil history, culture and traditional production processes. 

More specifically, the aspiration of the workshop is for olive oil enthusiasts to be able to define the different quality categories and describe the basic principles of olive oil tasting. Through discussion, experimentation and guidance by the facilitators, participants are getting familiar with identifying the primary elements that differentiate a high-quality olive oil from a defective one, and become fully qualified to make the most exceptional choices when it comes to the selection of the appropriate olive oil. 

Upon completion, the educational session is followed by the tasting of a hand-picked selection of the most famous olive oil varieties from Peloponnese and all over the country, paired with experimental food combinations of traditional Greek cuisine’s purest materials.
